Senior Photoshoots [not your typical senior portrait]

Senior portraits by a photographer who is passionate about photography.

Simple pricing, and digital images you can use however and keep forever.

That’s how I’m doing it different.

I manged to get my hands on that envelope that yearbook’s send out the summer of your junior year…I was curious, what do senior portraits look like these days? I was struck that of the 12 or so photographers in the envelope, they all seem to be using the same playbook. I guess if it works for them, but do you really want the same portrait as the other 12000 seniors in the City this year?

I don’t enjoy doing what everyone else does, so here’s how I offer you a difference senior portrait experience:

I rarely use the same location twice, and I like it better if you come up with a spot I’ve never been to before. I don’t work in a studio, or a studio backyard with lots of fabricated “locations” 2 feet from each other. I don’t sell wallets for $10.00 each. Nor do I have ridiculously complicated pricing with “units” and minimums. I mean, come on, 2 pages of text to explain all the different ways to order a portrait!!? baileypierce-6399

Here’s who I (Eric) am:

I’m passionate about portraiture.  I get little chills when the light is beautiful. we’re clicking, and you are having fun.  I love getting to know you and who you are, what makes you beautiful as a person.

I create spectacular portraits of you in an environment you choose. They can be funky, fresh, or traditional; or all over the map. I’d like to know a bit about you so I can capture your personality at the same time as your looks. I like to see textures and colors in my pictures that contrast with how you look.

Sessions last from an hour to 2, I don’t wear a watch, we shoot till we’re tired or it gets dark. We change outfits when we’re inspired by color or the surroundings.

Interested?

1. Call me. 303-731-2061 We can email first, but we’ve gotta talk before your session. I’ve need to hear your ideas and you need to hear mine. Nothing like the phone for that. For me to create excellent portraits of you, we need to be really comfortable around each other.
2. We pick a location. It could be anywhere: the top of a parking garage downtown, the middle of a lake in a boat, on top of the flatirons, or underneath a highway bridge. I’ll have some ideas after I talk to you and hear a bit about your life. I love hearing your ideas too.
3. Pick a time. Afternoons/evenings are great, so are Saturday mornings. Nights in the city are perfect too–we’ll bring some remote lights and go to town.
4. Come ready with your wardrobe, makeup if you wish (just a bit, keep it real) and a friend too. Make sure you’ve got at least 2 hours to dedicate to this. Bring a snack and some water, and be ready to imagine what it’s like to be a model for magazines. It will be fun and hard at the same time.
4. See your images online and on facebook/myspace a week later. I create photography that is meant to be seen and shared. You paid for it, so you can share it however you want. Your session fee includes the rights to share and print for almost any purpose.
5. Get your images on CD a few weeks later. Print them however you want, in any quantity you desire.

Pricing. It really is this simple.

Session Fee: $250
Full size images: Purchase 4 favorites: $350
(2 retouched images free)
All images (usually around 70-100) $500
(5 retouched images free)
Just not happy with the results? You get your session fee back or we’ll try again for free. (I’ve never had a re-shoot though!)
I don’t sell prints from senior portrait sessions unless you really beg. It’s just not a good deal for how most high school seniors want to use their images. You can make excellent prints almost anywhere from the digital images you receive on CD.

Want retouching and my artistic touch? (you’ll see it in the images below that don’t look like they are colored normally) Just tell me which files and it’s $15 each file, or 10 files for $100
That’s it. I don’t charge $50 for 8 wallets to share with friends, you can print them at wolf camera or online for 20 cents each.

Emil at Wash Park [Denver senior portraits]

Emil and I met in Denver’s Washington park last fall for a senior photoshoot just before sunset. We wandered around the park and then headed over to the Louisiana light rail stop for some shots on the bridge as the sun went below the horizon. Thanks for a great session, Emil!

Senior Portraits at Golden’s Lookout Mountain / Boettcher Mansion

Alex and I met up in Golden’s Boettcher Mansion at the top of Lookout Mountain on a beautiful Summer evening. The wildflowers were in bloom and the sunshine blazed through the trees.

I create senior portraits all over the Denver area, from the foothills to the plains.

Emily’s Senior Portraits in Boulder. Ralston Valley HS

I love discovering new locations, this one, NCAR (national center for atmospheric research) up near the Boulder Flatiorns was perfect for Emily. We spent a beautiful evening hiking and discovering spots for portraits.

Alexandra in Lodo

When I was in high school, I worked for a photographer in New York who went to all this trouble to build an outdoor portrait studio…weathered walls, waterfalls, flowers, brick walls. I laugh at that now. When I go out on portrait shoots, I have a bazillion dollar outdoor portrait studio…it’s called Denver. Alexandra and I went to Lodo and shot the living daylights out of that space (and we shot right until it was too dark to work. Here’s a few of my faves…
